This is an opportunity for those members how frequented the outdoor range to have a shooting activity at the NORGC while the ODR is closed.

Cost: $8.00 per member

Equipment: 22 cal rimfire – pistol or rifle

hunting style rifle or any pistol (no target rifles)

Course of fire: all shots at 50 feet

Squirrels – 10 shots from a standing position – with support

Squirrels – 10 shots from a seated position – shooting off hand

Squirrels – 10 shots from standing position off hand

5 @ vertical standing squirrel and 5 @ horizontal squirrel

Each squirrel has scoring rings to facilitate scoring

A total of 100 pts. possible from each position (300 points possible total)

Must shoot in four of the matches to be eligible for trophies

Two separate classes:  Rifle and Pistol

The leagues are open to anyone who wants to try our club again or maybe for their very first time … at member rates!

Grand Haven, MI.

As a result of the recent incident involving the GVSU Department of Public Safety’s use of the outdoor range on September 29, 2011 and in order to ensure the safety of our friends and neighbors in Grand Haven Township, the Board of Directors of North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club will continue to have the outdoor range closed indefinitely.  The Board of Directors has remained consistent in this message until we have had an opportunity to thoroughly review the incident in great detail.

The Club has not yet received a written report from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office regarding the GVSU Department of Public Safety incident.   The Board has closed the outdoor range until a thorough review of the incident, Club policies and the outdoor range itself has been completed.  This review will also include consideration of whether the continued use of the outdoor range by law enforcement agencies is appropriate.

The Board of Directors of North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club takes this matter very seriously and will continue to work with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Grand Haven Township, and the Club’s friends and neighbors to address any legitimate concerns before the outdoor range reopens.

The safety of our members, friends and neighbors is our highest priority.   For that reason, the outdoor range will remain closed.

Ballots will have space available for write-in votes.

The amendment to Article III, Section VI of our Bylaws, prescribing election procedure was passed by our Board of Directors at its regular meeting on September 12. As outlined in earlier communication with members – prior to voting on the amendment – this procedure represents a change in past election practices.

Ballots will be available at the Club house as beginning October 12. The Clubhouse will be the only polling place where ballots are to be personally returned. When you personally return your ballot, you will put it in the locked ballot box. Your name will be checked off the Membership list.

The election period will be from October 12 through November 13. The club will be closed November 15 – November 29.  The club will be open on Wednesday, November 30th. This will be the final day of voting.

Our effort is to make ballots as available as possible, while striving to achieve economy in administering the election. I hope you will do your part.
