An Overview of the North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club Foundation
While closely related to North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club, the North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club Foundation is a separate and distinct Michigan non-profit corporation with different officers, bylaws and board of directors. While both the Club and the Foundation are non-profit corporations, the IRS has determined that the Foundation is a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Because the IRS recognizes the Foundation as a 501(c)(3) public charity, contributions and donations to the Foundation are tax deductible by the donor as a charitable donation to the fullest extent permitted by law. While the Club is also a non-profit corporation, the Club is not a 501(c)(3) public charity so contributions and donations to the Club are not tax deductible. The purpose of the Foundation is to receive and administer funds exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including to provide education, training and instruction in firearm safety, in safe hunting and fishing practices, and in wildlife management and conservation.
The Foundation is also qualifying with the State of Michigan as a Local Civic Organization which will allow the Foundation to obtain Charitable Gaming Licenses from the State of Michigan and provide additional revenue raising opportunities.
We need your help in order for the Foundation to be successful. Making tax-deductible contributions and donations to the Foundation would be beneficial in helping the Foundation achieve it’s education, instruction and conservation goals. If you are interested in learning more about the Foundation and how it can enhance the shooting sports in our area, please contact the Club Manager, or fill out the contact form on this site with a subject line of ” NORGC Foundation”.
